The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) have grounded all VH- registered Skyfoxes and Gazelles with immediate effect following an incident where an aileron became separated in flight.

Owing to the structural similarity between the VH- registered aircraft and the AUF registered aircraft, all Skyfoxes and Gazelles are to be inspected in accordance with AN 2-2000 prior to the next flight.

People becoming aware of this notice are asked to pass this information on to any pilots and operators of Skyfoxes and Gazelles whom they believe may not be aware of this warning.

This notice is issued by Rod Hewitt-Cook, Technical Manager, AUF Inc. at 17:00 Fri 07 Jul 00

An AUF Airworthiness Notice, AN 2-2000, is now available for the inspection and rectification of this problem as far as it applies to AUF registered Skyfoxes and Gazelles. This notice does not apply to CASA VH- registered aircraft. Operators of CASA VH- registered aircraft will need to consult with CASA to ascertain their Airworthiness Directive requirements.

This Airwortiness Notice does not apply to Kitfox aircraft and the restrictions on those aircraft on the AUF register are lifted pending further investigation. The notice does not apply to Avid Flyer aircraft either.
