TRAINING AREA NOTES:The training area is north of the Atkinson Reservoir, south of Lake Wivenhoe and west of Coominya township. This area covers mixed farming country, which includes grazing, cropping, orchards and turf farming. The area is in the northern part of the beautiful Lockyer Valley and includes many private airstrips and aviation enthusiasts. The airfield lies across Amberley's CTR boundary and underneath controlled airspace and all training is carried out with the approval of, and clearance from, Amberley Approach when the military base is active. The airfield is in the centre of a 250 acre cattle property with obstruction free approaches and all weather, level grass surface. Air traffic at this quiet location is minimal, which allows ab initio students to safely settle into the aviation environment without having to cope with unusual manoeuvres by other aircraft. | |
